Ink Asylum update

atriumApologies for the lateness in getting this up, today (Friday 29 th May) is the your last chance to see this exhibition
Walking down to the Civic Offices this week is well worth the trip all the way to Wood Quay. In the sunny atrium, you’ll find a cracker of an exhibition. Ink Asylum is a show of first year student work from the Higher National Diploma in Illustration at Ballyfermot College of Further Education.

The work is eclectic and is representative of work created on the course, from Fine Art Printmaking to Illustrative Styles. Areas covered are as mixed as the media – comics, botanical illustration, architectural illustration, and computer generated art.

What is so surprising is that this huge variety of work comes from a class of only nine students. Some little gems to look for are the burning gothic church, the stitched fish people, and a very touching portrait of Nick Cave.

This is the next generation of illustrators – the ones to watch, and they are: Karen Browett, Eoin Fitzpatrick, Heli Hirvonen, Paul Howell, Micheal Martin, Sarah Murphy, Richard O’Gorman, Thomas McCarthy, and Karen Vaughan.
