With Halloween only a month away, Laurie Lipton’s The Carnival of Death show at Last Rites caught my eye.

Eoin Ó Súilleabháin posted a whole plethora of photos from a bizarre booklet – ‘Survival in a Nuclear War’ by the Irish Civil Defence . The illustrations are something to behold. Take a look here.

Dan Sinker, the author of ‘The F***ing Epic Twitter Quest of @MayorEmanuel’ gives a brief evolution of Paul Hornschemeier‘s cover for the book here. Do take a peek at Hornschemeier’s quite brilliant daily drawings too.

As it states in its first issue, The Stripe is a new Dublin freesheet that offers “the inside track on what gig to hit when you’re trying to fake hipness to impress a date.” I haven’t laughed so much in a long time reading it. Above is Illustrators Ireland member Steve McCarthy creating the cover for the current issue (finished cover below). It comes out every two weeks with issue 2 out this Thursday. Vodafone commissioned five Irish artists from different disciplines to create unique artwork. The artists involved were Kilkenny graffiti artist Danleo, Dublin stylist Aisling Farinella, Waterford born illustrator Kathi Burke, photographer Steve Ryan from Kilkenny and Cork born Eoin Coeveny (above) who is a graphic illustrator.

Dublin artist Loreana Rushe launches her first solo exhibition next Thursday 4th August 6-8pm in the R.A.G.E, Fade Street. The exhibition will run daily until Saturday August 13th and will display her work for bands like Fight Like Apes and Adebisi Shank as well as editorial illustrations for the likes of Le Cool and Punt Magazine. It will also include her collaborative photo work with renowned artist Gary Baseman and a small selection of photography. There will be drinks and sweets served at the opening and prints for sale.

IGI member Chris Judge is taking part in a group illustration show titled ‘Through the Looking Glass’ that opens on the 17th of July in The Yeats Memorial Building in Sligo. You can see more of Chris’s work for this exhibition here. Also exhibiting are Daniel Bourke, James Gammell, Marian Noone, Patrick O’Callaghan and Wayne O’Connor.
