hollywood babylon exhibition tonight

Tonight (Thursday 8th December), Hollywood Babylon, Dublin’s Midnight Movie Film Club, is hosting an exhibition of re-imagined movie posters at 6.30pm at Block T in Smithfield, Dublin. The strictly limited screenprinted versions of the posters from the movie nights are up for show and purchase including Philip Barrett’s version of the Crank 2 Poster above. It’s free in and there will be drinks, music, popcorn and fun.

A Jim Henson Tribute Exhibition

California’s Gallery Nucleus “has invited more than 30 artists to pay homage to Jim Henson. This universally beloved visionary whose inspiring concepts and characters have impacted our culture in a monumental way. The collection will showcase a variety of mediums from a roster of professionals who are also genuine fans.” The Lovers, the Dreamers, and Me – A Jim Henson Tribute Exhibition opens on Dec 10th. ‘Revolution’ Exhibition

The recent ‘Revolution’ Illustration at Fire Competition was the second disbursement of the Fire €150,000 Arts Fund. Following judging and determination of the ten finalists, The Copper House Gallery will be exhibiting the short-listed and winning illustrations. The overall winner and runners-up will be announced on the night of the exhibition launch.
The ten ‘Revolution’ finalists are Sharon Bruton, Derry Dillon, Jennifer Farley, and Illustrators Ireland members Brian Gallagher, Matthew Griffin, Kevin McSherry, Padhraig Nolan, Steve Simpson, Mario Sughi and Donough O’Malley.

Images Beyond Borders Exhibition

Laureate na nÓg Siobhán Parkinson, Children’s Books Ireland and the Austrian Embassy are launching an exhibition of illustrations by children’s illustrators from Ireland and Austria – Images Beyond Borders.

The exhibition will be launched with a discussion on children’s book illustration by Niamh Sharkey and Valerie Coghlan (7pm on Friday 7 October, at the No Grants Gallery/ The Culture Box)

Exhibition Illustration Ireland Members @ The Cooper House Gallery

Leszek, Maureen and all at Fire have pleasure in inviting you to the official opening of The Copper House Gallery and to the unveiling of their exciting new €150,000 Arts Initiative.

Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Jimmy Deenihan T.D. will officially open the gallery and will launch the first element of the Arts Awards – a competition for illustrators.

Opening show is  next 27th September 2011 with an exhibition of work by members of the Illustrators Guild of Ireland.

solo: an exhibition by loreana rushe

Dublin artist Loreana Rushe launches her first solo exhibition next Thursday 4th August 6-8pm in the R.A.G.E, Fade Street. The exhibition will run daily until Saturday August 13th and will display her work for bands like Fight Like Apes and Adebisi Shank as well as editorial illustrations for the likes of Le Cool and Punt Magazine.  It will also include her collaborative photo work with renowned artist Gary Baseman and a small selection of photography. There will be drinks and sweets served at the opening and prints for sale.

 

through the looking glass exhibition

IGI member Chris Judge is taking part in a group illustration show titled ‘Through the Looking Glass’ that opens on the 17th of July in The Yeats Memorial Building in Sligo. Paper cut works from four Henri Matisse illustrated art books are currently on show in the Chester Beatty Library, Dublin, until 25th September.
